Tanzania is home to some of Africa's most iconic safari destinations: the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Lake Manyara. First-time visitors are often surprised by the sheer scale of the wilderness — the Serengeti alone is larger than Wales.
Most nationalities can obtain a Tanzania e-Visa online before arrival. Yellow fever vaccination is required if arriving from an endemic country. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended; consult your GP or travel clinic at least six weeks before departure.
The best time to visit depends on your priorities. For the Great Migration river crossings, travel between July and October. For the calving season on the southern plains, visit January to March. Green-season safaris (November to May) offer lower prices and lush landscapes.
