Lake Elementaita

Overview

Lake Elementeita is located in between Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha. The Name Elementeita was derived from Maasai Word, which they named the place a dusty place. Lake Ementeita is a UNESCO Heritage site together with Lake Bogoria National Reserve and Lake National Reserve and has been a Ramsar site since 2005.

The Lake supports over 400 bird species, including flamingoes from Lake Nakuru and Lake Bogoria, both lesser and greater flamingoes to feed on blue-green algae. Nearby Soysambu, the protected area near the Lake, established Lord Delamere, 48,000 acres, home to over 12,000 animals, including; Lions, Leopard, Hyenas, giraffes, primates, primates, among others.
