Meru National Park is a protected area and one of the most popular safari destinations in Kenya, covering an area of 870 square kilometers, located 350km from Nairobi. Meru National Park is famous for Elsa’s lioness that George and Joy Adamson raised, and it is buried in the park.
The park comprises mainly thorny bushland in the North, wooded grasslands in the West, and open grassland elsewhere. Meru National Park has a wide range of animal’s species ranging from Grevy’s Zebra, Elephants, Eland, Bush Pig, Waterbuck, Cheetah, Leopard, Reticulated Giraffe, Hippopotamus, Bohor Reedbuck, Hartebeest, Python, Puff Udder, Cobra, Buffalo, more than 427 recorded species of birds. The Tana River and Adamson Falls are the critical features of the National Park.
